The best septic system is the one you never have to think about, so manage your shit with a DEC certified septic system. Your septic system is not the time or place for half measures or cost cutting. If you're trying to manage shit on a shoe string, then have us dig you an out-house hole or buy a reliable composting toilet.

You can count on Southern Exposure to keep your wastewater out of sight and out of mind; we only install the highest quality heavy-duty HDPE septic tanks, designed to give your system years of rust-free and trouble-free operation.

​Some contractors still install steel septic tanks, which rapidly rust and corrode in the wet and saturated soils of the Southern Kenai Peninsula. In our opinion, this is unprofessional and wasteful, as these tanks will likely fail within 25 years.

​Over the last 15 years, we've installed dozens of septic systems for a variety of sites ranging from simple to challenging, and we're proud to say we've never had a system failure or warranty claim on any system we've installed. System longevity and quality will always be our highest priorities.

The goal is always to keep septic systems as simple and robust as possible, but sometimes engineered after-treatment systems or lift stations are required depending upon soils, elevations and other site constraints. Every site is unique. 

If you're lucky enough to have access to municipal sewer services, we are fully licensed and bonded to install both gravity and pressurized (lift station) connections.

Utilities

Underground utilities are essential for supporting your quality of life above ground. Anticipating and installing all utility runs early in your site preparation workflow is key to reducing cost and headache. We can assist you with the following and more:

Foundations, Concrete and ICF

Whether you're building a house that needs a sturdy foundation or building a concrete slab for a garage, you want the job done right from the beginning. Earthwork is the core of Southern Exposure's business and in our DNA. We love it, and since concrete is 95% site preparation and forming work, we will prep your site from start to finish from initial land clearing, to excavation and installing the utilities that you need for your home, to installing the foundation or slab. We will have your foundation ready for your contractor to begin building! Having a solid foundation keeps the rest of your project on track and on budget.

What makes ICF different?

​ICF is a type of concrete form that is made with rigid, thermal insulation and filled with concrete. These forms stay in place and become a permanent barrier for the concrete while providing several key benefits:

• Insulation - Upgrade your home's insulation, starting with the foundation, to help your home retain heat during those cold winter months, and cool in the summer.
• Soundproofing - ICF creates a better sound barrier between the exterior and interior and between floors.
• Regulated humidity levels -  Insulated concrete means more protection against humidity and condensation, especially in the southern Kenai Peninsula's climate.​
